Rods Hotels and Apartments has officially terminated its ambassadorial deal with Nollywood actor Jigan Baba Oja following his alleged involvement in a controversial celebrity group chat linked to the ongoing demand for justice over the death of singer Mohbad.
The hospitality brand made the announcement shortly after social media activist Verydarkman leaked conversations from a private group chat involving several public figures.
The leaked messages appeared to show some celebrities, including Jigan, allegedly promoting narratives that clashed with the popular outcry for justice in the case of the late music star.
In a statement issued by the company, Rods Hotels stressed their commitment to public trust and accountability, stating:
“In line with our core values of safety, accountability, and guest trust, Rods Apartment officially withdraws its ambassadorial deal with Jigan Baba OJA (JBO).”
The statement further noted that while due process must be respected, the company felt compelled to act in light of public concerns linking the actor to efforts seen as undermining justice for Mohbad.
“This decision comes amid the ongoing investigation and growing public concerns linking JBO to the mysterious death of music star Mohbad. While we respect due process, we believe in taking a firm stand that reflects our commitment to creating a safe and responsible environment for all,” the statement concluded.
