The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Idi Buba for allegedly stabbing his father, Jelli Buba, to death during a dispute in the Fotta District of Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
This is coming barely 24 hours after a lady was arrested in Ondo State for stabbing her boyfriend to death over alleged infidelity.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Yahaya Nguroje confirmed that the suspect was arrested after the incident occurred.
A security expert, Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the incident on his X page on Tuesday, disclosed that the incident occurred on Monday after an altercation between the two took place in their family compound.
According to Makama, the suspect had allegedly attacked his father with a knife and stabbed him on the neck and back, causing deep wounds.
The victim was said to have been taken to a health facility in the community, where he was confirmed dead.
Makama wrote, “A man identified as Idi Buba has allegedly stabbed his biological father, Buba Jelli, to death in Fotta District, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
“The tragic incident occurred on Monday, July 28, following a yet-to-be-determined altercation between the two in their family compound.
“Sources in the community said Idi attacked his father with a knife, inflicting deep wounds on his neck and back. The victim was rushed to the Primary Health Care Centre in Fotta, where he was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.”
He added that the knife suspected to have been used in the altercation was retrieved by security operatives, while the body of the deceased was deposited at a morgue in the state.
“Security sources said a knife suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene by security personnel.
“The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the health facility for autopsy, while further inquiries into the motive behind the killing are ongoing,” Makama tweeted.
Nguroje, while confirming the incident on Tuesday, noted that the suspect had been taken into custody for further investigation.
“Yes, it is true. The command has apprehended the suspect. He is in our custody,” Nguroje told PUNCH.
