Portugal came from behind to defeat Germany 2–1 in the UEFA Nations League semi-final on Wednesday in Munich, booking their place in Sunday’s final at the Allianz Arena.
Germany took the lead early in the second half through Florian Wirtz, who finished a header from Joshua Kimmich’s cross in the 48th minute.
But the lead lasted just 15 minutes before Portugal mounted a swift comeback.
Francisco Conceição levelled the score with a screamer in the 63rd minute after being set up by Rúben Dias.
Five minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo scored what proved to be the winner, converting a pass from Nuno Mendes in the 68th minute to complete the turnaround.
The match saw a flurry of yellow cards, with Rúben Neves and Portugal coach Roberto Martínez booked in the 52nd minute, and Germany’s Jonathan Tah cautioned in the 80th.
Both Wirtz and Portugal’s Dias received yellow cards in the 84th minute, as did Niclas Füllkrug.
With the 2–1 win, Portugal advanced to the final on Sunday at 1900 GMT in Munich. The third-place play-off will be held earlier the same day at 1300 GMT at the MHPArena in Stuttgart.
The second semi-final between Spain and France is scheduled for Thursday in Stuttgart, with kick-off at 1900 GMT.
