A final-year nursing student at the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College, identified as Gifty Kyere, has tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances at her boyfriend’s room in Jinijini, located in the Bono Region of Ghana.
Gifty, who was 28 years old and nearing the completion of her nursing education, had reportedly left her family home the day before her untimely demise, stating that she was going to collect her school fees and pick up other important items.
However, her family was left in shock and mourning after receiving the devastating news that she had died at her boyfriend’s residence.
Her father, Pastor Kyere Jonathan, who serves as a minister at the Agape Evangelical Church in Jinijini, expressed deep sorrow and disbelief over the incident.
He revealed that the family had expected Gifty to return home shortly after running her errands, only to learn she had gone to her boyfriend’s place instead.
The boyfriend, a 23-year-old named Edmond Ayomah, is currently missing.
Authorities report that he fled the scene, but there are unconfirmed reports that he has contacted a few individuals and expressed his willingness to surrender to the police soon.
According to initial statements made by Ayomah before his disappearance, he claimed that Gifty had suffered from a sudden asthma attack, which led to her passing. He also stated that he lacked the financial means to take her to the hospital.
However, law enforcement officials are skeptical of this explanation and have launched an investigation into the actual cause of her death.
Sources close to the case have revealed that there may have been additional factors involved, including the possibility that Ayomah had allegedly pressured Gifty to undergo an abortion. Investigators are currently looking into whether this claim has any connection to her untimely death.
The police have intensified efforts to locate Ayomah and are urging him to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, Gifty’s family and community continue to grieve as they await justice and clarity regarding the tragic circumstances that led to her death.
