Wasiu Ayinde, the Fuji singer better known as Kwam 1, has revealed that he is a devoted member of the Celestial Church of Christ.
The ‘Ade Ori Okin’ hitmaker opened up about his religious faith during a recent interview on the Agbaletu Radiovision podcast.
Kwam 1 declared himself a “bona fide member” of the white-garment church and revealed that he had even built a parish.
The 68-year-old Fuji star also reflected on his spiritual journey, adding that during difficult times, he sought divine intervention and explored various avenues to connect with God.
“Yes I attend Celestial church, I am a bonafide member of Celestial church, a proud one. In fact, I even built a church,” he said.
“In times of trouble, I sought religion and I also sought the face of God in two different ways. There is no place I did not search for the face of God.”
The revelation surprised many fans, as most assumed the singer was Muslim due to his name, Wasiu Ayinde.
With a career spanning over five decades, Kwam 1 remains a towering figure in Nigerian music, earning numerous awards and widespread acclaim.
Born in Lagos on March 3, 1957, the Ijebu-Ode native has continued to inspire generations with his artistry.
