The Chairman of Oyo State House Committee on Women Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Dr. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, in her New Month greetings and prayers, has called for peace amongst protesters as Youths Nationwide kick off Protests to #EndBadGovernance, appealing to the Government of the day to soften the hardships felt by citizens of the country.
She hits the message on its head by addressing the situation, appealing to the protesters to March peacefully as Peaceful Protests are essential rights of citizens. She also added that as a Lawmaker, she and her colleagues will ensure the sponsorship of bills that will bring ease to the common man.
Part of the message she let out read:
“We are grateful to the Almighty for sparing our lives and that of our family to make us to see the Month of August in peace and good health.
“Coincidentally, the beginning of this month had been chosen by the Youths and Citizens of this country to protest peacefully against what they perceive as bad governance. Peaceful protests are fundamental rights of concerned citizens. We only plead that the exercise should be a peaceful one without the vandalism of Public and Private properties.
“In Oyo State, the Executive Governor, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde has lended his voice on this matter and has promised that there won’t be an harassment to the Protesters. With that being said, may the protest bear good fruits and we as lawmakers will ensure we legislate people-oriented bills which will bring ease into the life of the masses.
“I solemnly pray that this month be filled with blessings, laced with unprecedented Favour, all around us.
“Congratulations and I wish you a blessed New Month.”
