The Chairman of the Consultation Committee of Team New Nigeria (TNN), Professor David Okanlawon, has said the party’s coalition talks with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have collapsed due to its demand for 25% of the party’s internal structures.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Friday, Okanlawon, however, said, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) is courting us to see if there will be a possibility of forming an alliance.”
“While talks with ADC remain stalled, TNN will continue to engage other platforms, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP), ahead of 2027,” the statement stressed.
On membership, the statement said its committee on party registration, headed by Professor Julius Ternange, has revealed a TNN membership strength of 43.6 million across the 774 local government areas in the country.
To this end, it said it will soon present its final report as the party strategises for a political movement that will compete for positions against the ruling party (APC).
The statement added that TNN is gradually becoming like Senegal’s PASTEF and South Africa’s EFF, aiming to capitalise on the continental trend of youth-led political transformation groups.
