2027: Labour Party Will Not Only Win, But Take Over Lagos — Rhodes-Vivour Vows

The 2023 governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has boasted that the Labour Party would not only win but take over power in Lagos in 2027.

Rhodes-Vivour, who made the boast while fielding questions from newsmen in Umuahia, Abia state capital, where he attended an extended Stakeholders’ meeting of the Labour Party, said that the party had been made more formidable to take over Lagos State.

According to him, Labour Party has been strategising and consolidating on its gains since its impressive outing in Lagos during the 2023 polls, where it swept the former Nigerian capital during the presidential poll.

The former governorship flag bearer expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, saying that the future of the party has been brightened.

He said, “LP is now well structured, not just to win but to take power in 2027. What we have come to do here in Umuahia is to bring everybody on the same page. We are set for new victories in 2027.

“I believe Labour Party will win Lagos State more convincingly in 2027. Since after the 2023 elections, work has not stopped; we have not gone quiet. Every day, we are getting stronger and stronger.

“So, we are not just going to win but stand up and take power.”

He accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of maladministration, saying its abysmal performance has made it much easier for Labour Party to sweep both Lagos and the country in 2027.

According to him, the excruciating economic hardship and growing hunger in the land are clear testimonials of the ineptitude of the ruling party at the centre.

“APC has been failing Nigerians for a very long time. It didn’t start today, although things are harder now.”

Rhodes-Vivour also lauded the LP Leader and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Gov. Alex Otti of Abia State, as well as other stakeholders of the party, for the decision to rescue and reposition the party.

“The critical stakeholders of LP came here to take an important decision to move the party forward. This is a very good step in the right direction”.

Recall that LP had been engrossed with leadership crisis as the Comrade Julius Abure-led National Working Committee, NWC, which expired in June, had been having altercations with the Nigeria Labour Congress, the owners of the party.

But the stakeholders during the meeting laid the tussle to rest following the appointment of a 29-member Caretaker Committee headed by former Finance Minister, Senator Nenadi Usman, to reposition the party and conduct a fresh convention in 90 days.
