The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shared detailed instructions for registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The guidelines also highlight common problems candidates may face.
JAMB announced on its official X account that the information is to help candidates prepare for registration.
Key instructions include:
Candidates must ensure their personal details such as National Identification Number (NIN), email, and A-Level results are correct before generating a profile code.
The 11-digit NIN should be sent to 55019 or 66019 (e.g., NIN 00000011111 to 55019/66019).
Once a profile code is generated, it cannot be changed. The candidate’s information will be automatically retrieved from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
Candidates should visit the nearest JAMB office or an approved CBT centre to start registration.
E-PINs should only be bought from authorized banks, online platforms, or registration centre vendors.
All registration details must be carefully checked before final submission.
JAMB emphasized that accurate information is crucial, warning that mistakes could cause problems. Candidates should:
Make corrections with NIMC early and ensure changes appear on their portal before registration. This includes name, date of birth, gender, and state of origin.
Use unique and functional email addresses and phone numbers, as these cannot be changed or shared.
Visit a JAMB office if there are biometric issues; no CBT centre should force registration.
Ensure a dual screen is used during registration, and confirm passport photos and biometrics are captured correctly.
